Pakistan and China takes deeper concerns about sanctions on Russia as their key allies

Old friends China and Pakistan have refused to condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine on February 24th

China and Pakistan share concerns about the "spill-over effects" of unilateral sanctions on Russia over Ukraine's war, and have called for a cease-fire and diplomatic resolve of the crisis, according to China's foreign ministry on Tuesday.

Old friends China and Pakistan have refused to condemn Russia for its invasion of Ukraine on February 24th, unlike Western nations that have imposed unprecedented financial and corporate sanctions in response to Russian President Vladimir Putin's "special military maneuver."

"Both expressed concern about the spill-over effects of unilateral sanctions," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement following a meeting between the two countries on Monday.

"Both demanded a diplomatic connection to reach a cease-fire and hope that, based on the principle of indivisible security, a sufficient solution to the Ukraine problem may be reached," said the Chinese ministry.

Pakistan's foreign ministry has issued a statement on the discussions in Islamabad, implying that it would establish a cease-fire, but it did not mention concerns about sanctions.
